In the Studio: Today I noticed....
Today I noticed that... I work well when working with multiples...

I've been thinking about how to change the way I write about my art and my work in progress.
I've just been doing a creative writing course and I thought that I'd experiment with using creative writing prompts when writing about my art to see whether this helps!
In this in the studio, work in progress blog post, I'm using the prompt "Today I noticed..." to start every sentence. Let me know what you think!
Today I noticed...
Today I noticed that I work well when working with multiples.
Today I noticed that starting with a collage worked well.
Today I noticed that "getting started" was helped by deciding in advance that my initial project would be a collage made from a magazine page.
Today I noticed that I was inspired by the colour blue.
Today I noticed that whilst I was inspired by the colour blue, it wasn’t necessarily going to feature as heavily as I had thought, perhaps this is because I’d run out of blue paint? Or because an inspiration can inspire but doesn’t have to constrain or limit you.
Today I noticed that I work well within my own parameters but not when those barriers are imposed on me by someone else, or because I think I should be working in a certain way.
Today I noticed that once I'm in the "flow", I work best without pre-decided parameters.
Today I noticed that I work well when I have the materials at hand and can work process-led without thinking too much about what I’m doing or what I should be doing - or thinking about making something that other people think is “good” art.
Today I noticed, not for the first time that whilst I love creative writing, and I love making art, I find writing about my art hard.
Today I noticed that I’d give it a go writing about my art using prompts and see if that helps! Does it?
The Collage (The starting project!)
Today I noticed that "getting started" was helped by deciding in advance that my initial project would be a collage made from one magazine page.
The Paintings....
The 1st Painting
Today I noticed that whilst I was inspired by the colour blue, it wasn’t necessarily going to feature as heavily as I had thought, perhaps this is because I’d run out of blue paint? Or because an inspiration can inspire but doesn’t have to constrain or limit you.
The 2nd painting
Today I noticed that I work well when I have the materials at hand and can work process-led without thinking too much about what I’m doing or what I should be doing - or thinking about making something that other people think is “good” art.
